Oh, lamb appetizers, you know, those little bites you eat before the big meal? They’re good, real good. Like, you got people coming over, hungry, gotta give ’em somethin’ to munch on while you’re still fussin’ in the kitchen. That’s what these lamb things are for.
Now, I ain’t no fancy cook, but I know what tastes good. You take that lamb, chop it up small, real small. Like, you ain’t gonna choke on it. Then you mix it up with stuff. What stuff? Whatever you got! Onions, garlic, those little green things, parsley they call ’em. Chop ’em up too, throw ’em in. Salt and pepper, gotta have that. Maybe some other spices, if you like that kinda thing. I got some paprika in the cupboard, I’ll toss some of that in.
- Little lamb balls: Roll that lamb mix into little balls. Fry ’em up in a pan. Get ’em nice and brown. Stick a toothpick in ’em so folks can pick ’em up easy.
- Lamb on sticks: Put the lamb on them little sticks, what are they called, skewers? Yeah, skewers. Grill ’em or bake ’em. Good for a party.
- Little lamb pies: Get that dough stuff from the store, puff pastry they call it. Cut it up into squares. Put some lamb in the middle, fold it over. Bake ’em up. Fancy!
Now, you can’t just serve lamb by itself. Gotta have somethin’ to go with it. Like, dips. Yogurt dip is good. Just plain yogurt with some herbs and garlic. Or that tomato sauce, salsa they call it. Get the kind that ain’t too spicy. Or, you know, just put out some ketchup. Folks like ketchup.
And bread. Gotta have bread with appetizers. Those little flatbreads are good. Or just regular bread, cut it up into pieces. People can dip the bread in the dips, eat it with the lamb.
Don’t make it too complicated. Folks ain’t lookin’ for fancy. They just want somethin’ tasty to eat. Keep it simple, keep it good. That’s what I always say.
Now, I gotta tell you, lamb can be a bit greasy. You gotta cook it good, drain off the fat. Nobody wants a mouthful of grease. And don’t overcook it neither. Nobody wants dry, tough lamb. You gotta cook it just right. Not too long, not too short.
And make sure you got enough for everybody. Nothin’ worse than runnin’ out of food at a party. Better to have too much than too little. Leftovers are good, you can eat ’em for lunch tomorrow.
So, there you have it. Lamb appetizers. Easy peasy. Just chop, mix, cook, serve. Anybody can do it. Even you! Now go on, get in the kitchen and make somethin’ delicious.
