Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here Chattanooga Christmas train dinner. It’s a real fancy thing, ya know? Not like the kinda eatin’ we do at home, that’s for sure.
First off, you gotta get yourself a ticket. And them tickets, they ain’t cheap! But I reckon it’s worth it, seein’ as it’s Christmas and all. They call it a “four-course dining experience,” sound fancy, don’t it? I ain’t never had no four courses in my life, ‘cept maybe when I went to that buffet over in town, but this here’s different, this here’s on a train!
They say the train leaves from that big ol’ station in Chattanooga, the Grand Junction Station, at 7:00 PM sharp. You gotta be on time, they ain’t waitin’ for no one. And the train, it ain’t just any old train, no sir. It’s one of them “restored” trains, all fixed up and pretty. They got Pullman cars and dinin’ cars, all fancy-like. I heard tell they even got some kinda fancy tablecloths and such on that train, seems right wasteful if you ask me.
Now, about the food. Like I said, it’s four courses. I ain’t rightly sure what all they serve, but I bet it’s good. Probably some kinda meat, maybe some potatoes, and them little green beans they like to serve at fancy places. And I hear tell they got dessert too! Maybe some kinda cake or pie. My grandbaby loves pie, she does. I’m hopin’ they got somethin’ she’d like.
- Appetizer: I heard someone sayin’ somethin’ ’bout soup. Fancy soup, not the kind I make with leftovers.
- Salad: Lettuce, I reckon. Maybe some tomatoes if you’re lucky. And some kinda dressin’, not just plain ol’ vinegar.
- Main Course: This is the big one. Meat, potatoes, maybe some vegetables. The kinda stuff that fills ya up.
- Dessert: Something sweet, like cake or pie. Gotta finish off the meal with somethin’ good.
The whole train ride, it’s supposed to be an “experience.” They take you on a round trip, I think. And it’s all decorated for Christmas. Lights and stuff everywhere. Real pretty, I bet. They do love them lights in the big city, makes it hard for folks to sleep with all that shinin’ going on all night. I bet the kids would love it, though. All the shinin’ and the fancy food and the train ride, it’s like somethin’ outta a storybook. Probably cost a pretty penny though. You know, they have other trains too, not just this fancy dinner one. They got one that goes to the “North Pole.” Now, I don’t rightly believe there’s a real North Pole, not like they say, but them kids sure do enjoy it. They do this train ride every year, they say. It’s real popular.
Now, if you ain’t got the money for the dinner train, that’s alright. They got other things to do in Chattanooga. You can go see the Choo Choo, that’s an old train they turned into a hotel, or somethin’ like that. And there’s a museum where you can see all sorts of old trains. That’s somethin’ the grandkids would like, I reckon. And they always have them Christmas lights strung up all over town. You can just walk around and look at ’em, that don’t cost nothin’. Or you could find yourself a deal on some Christmas stuff for the kids and grandkids, but don’t go spending too much, you hear me? Gotta be careful with the money, cause it don’t grow on no trees.
Anyway, back to the train dinner. It sounds like a real nice time, if you can afford it. A fancy meal on a fancy train, all decorated for Christmas. If you’re lookin’ to do somethin’ special this year, this might just be it. But remember, it ain’t the fancy stuff that matters, it’s the bein’ together with your loved ones. That’s what Christmas is all about, ya know? Just like they say about those things you buy, you don’t need them, but they make life’s special moments all the more special. You remember that, hear me?
If you wanna go, you gotta call ’em or go online to get tickets. They got a number you can call, somethin’ like 800-872-4681. Or you can look it up online, they got a website and all. Just search for somethin’ like “Chattanooga Christmas train dinner,” you’ll find it. And don’t wait too long, them tickets go fast, especially around Christmas time. It’s a one and a quarter hour ride too, so not too long for little kids, though it’ll still make ‘em tired.
Well, that’s all I got to say about the Chattanooga Christmas train dinner. Hope it helped ya out some. Merry Christmas, ya’ll!
