Alright, so you’re tellin’ me you gotta go to one of them fancy dinner thingies before the weddin’? The rehearsal dinner, they call it. And you ain’t no skinny minnie, huh? Join the club, sister! We bigger gals gotta look good too, ain’t no shame in that game. So, let’s figure out what kinda dress you gonna wear to this here plus size rehearsal dinner dress shindig.
First off, don’t you go thinkin’ you gotta wear somethin’ plain and frumpy just ’cause you got some curves. No sirree! We gonna find somethin’ that makes you feel like a queen, or at least a princess, or heck, even just a darn good-lookin’ lady. That’s the goal, right?
Now, they say you gotta dress somewhere in between fancy and… well, not so fancy. Kinda like when you go to church but it’s a special occasion, you know? Not your everyday jeans and t-shirt, that’s for sure. Unless you wanna be the talk of the town, and not in a good way. We ain’t aimin’ for that, are we?
So, what’s good? Well, they talk about them long dresses, the ones that go all the way down to your feet. Maxi dresses, they call ’em. Yeah, those can be real pretty, specially if it’s warm outside. And if it’s got some flowy sleeves or somethin’, even better. Makes you feel all fancy-like. You can find some pretty ones that ain’t gonna break the bank, too. Seen some online for like, forty bucks or somethin’. Said they was satin and all. Sounded nice.
- Maxi Dresses: Long and flowy, good for warmer weather. Look for ones with pretty details like ruffles or a belt.
- Cocktail Dresses: A bit shorter, but still dressy. Good if the dinner is a little more formal.
- Wrap Dresses: These are good ’cause you can tie ’em to fit just right. And they look good on just about everyone.
Then there’s them shorter dresses, the ones that hit around your knees or a little below. Cocktail dresses, they call ’em. Those are good too, specially if the dinner is a bit more on the fancy side. You know, like if they got tablecloths and real silverware and all that. And if you can find one with some sparkly stuff on it, or maybe some feathers, well, that’s just the ticket.
And don’t forget about them dresses that wrap around you. Wrap dresses, I think they’re called. Those are good ‘cause you can tie ‘em tight or loose, dependin’ on how you feel that day. And they always look good, no matter what your shape is. They got ones with long sleeves, short sleeves, no sleeves at all. Take your pick, honey.
Now, color is important too. You don’t wanna show up lookin’ like you’re goin’ to a funeral, unless it’s a black-tie affair, and even then, you can add some sparkle or somethin’ to brighten it up. White is always a good choice, specially for a wedding thing. But you can also go with bright colors, like red or blue or green. Just make sure it’s somethin’ that looks good on you. And somethin’ you feel comfortable in. That’s the most important thing.
And listen, don’t be afraid to try somethin’ different. Maybe a dress with a v-neck, if you wanna show off a little bit. Or maybe one with long sleeves, if you’re feelin’ a little chilly. Or hey, if dresses ain’t your thing, you can even wear a nice pantsuit. Yeah, they got those too, in bigger sizes. Just make sure it’s somethin’ fancy, not like what you’d wear to the grocery store.
The main thing is, you wanna feel good about yourself. You wanna walk in there with your head held high and your shoulders back. You wanna feel confident and beautiful, no matter what size you are. And you know what? You can do it. Just find a dress that fits you good, makes you feel good, and you’ll be the belle of the ball, or at least the belle of the rehearsal dinner. And don’t forget the shoes! You don’t want to be trippin’ over yourself. Get some comfy ones, but make ‘em pretty too.
So go on, girl. Get yourself a pretty dress and have a good time at that rehearsal dinner. You deserve it.
