Alright, let’s talk about them sweet things in Salt Lake City, you know, the desserts! I ain’t no fancy food writer or nothin’, just tellin’ it like it is. Folks been askin’ me, “Where do you get good dessert in this here city?” Well, lemme tell ya, there’s a whole bunch of places, some good, some not so good.
First off, if you got a hankerin’ for somethin’ sweet in the mornin’, you gotta go get yourself some of them donuts. I heard tell of a place called Banbury Cross Donuts. People sayin’ they got the best donuts in the whole city. Now, I ain’t tried ’em myself, but enough folks say it, gotta be somethin’ to it. They got all kinds, I reckon, glazed, sprinkled, them jelly-filled ones too. Nothin’ like a good donut and a cup of coffee to start your day, that’s what I always say.
Then there’s them chocolates. Now, I ain’t a big sweets person, but even I gotta admit, a good piece of chocolate can hit the spot. There’s this Hatch Family Chocolates place, supposed to be the tippy-top best dessert place around here. Folks ravin’ about it, sayin’ it’s the best dessert in all of Salt Lake. I figure they gotta be doin’ somethin’ right if everyone’s sayin’ that. They probably got them fancy chocolates, you know, with the swirls and the nuts and all that. But I bet they got the plain ol’ milk chocolate too, that’s my favorite.
But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ more than just donuts and chocolate, well, Salt Lake City’s got you covered. I hear folks talkin’ about places like Gourmandise and Tulie Bakery and Les Madeleines. Sounds all fancy-pants to me, but I reckon they got good stuff. Probably got them cakes with all the layers and the frostin’, and them little pastries that look too pretty to eat, almost. But I bet they taste mighty fine, especially with a cup of tea or coffee.
- Gourmandise: I hear this place has got all kinds of goodies. Cakes, pies, pastries, you name it. Sounds like a place you’d go for a special occasion, you know, a birthday or somethin’.
- Tulie Bakery: This one, I think, is more about bread and stuff, but they got desserts too. Probably them rustic kinda desserts, you know, not too fancy but good and hearty.
- Les Madeleines: Now, this one sounds real Frenchy. I bet they got them little cookies, the madeleines, that’s what they’re called, right? And probably other fancy French pastries too. I ain’t never had nothin’ like that, but I bet it’s good.
Now, I ain’t been to all these places myself, mind you. I’m just tellin’ ya what I hear folks sayin’. But one thing’s for sure, Salt Lake City ain’t lackin’ for places to get your sweet tooth fix. Whether you want a simple donut or a fancy pastry, you can find it here. And if you’re lucky, you might even find a place that makes them old-fashioned desserts like your grandma used to make. Now that’s the kind of dessert I like, somethin’ that tastes like home.
Oh, and I almost forgot! There’s this ice cream place, I don’t know the name, but they got vegan and gluten-free ice cream. Now, I don’t know nothin’ about vegan or gluten-free, but people seem to like it. Said it was “yummy yummy”. So, if you’re one of them healthy eaters, you can still get your dessert fix, I guess. They got all kinds of flavors too, I heard. So, there you have it, a little rundown of the desserts in Salt Lake City. Go on out there and try some for yourself, you might just find your new favorite sweet treat.
One thing though, I heard most restaurants got some desserts too, but they ain’t usually as good as them places that just do desserts. So if you really want somethin’ good, go to a bakery or a donut shop or a chocolate place. That’s my advice anyway. You take it or leave it. And remember, eat dessert first! Life’s too short to wait.
And that’s all I got to say about desserts in Salt Lake City. You can check out reviews and other folks’ opinions, but I’m tellin’ ya, sometimes you just gotta go try it for yourself. Don’t be scared to try somethin’ new, you might be surprised. Now, I’m gonna go get myself a cup of coffee. All this talk about sweets is makin’ me thirsty.
