Oh, honey, you wanna talk about them Venezuela desserts? My, oh my, they sure are somethin’. I tell ya, them folks down there, they know how to make a sweet treat that’ll make your mouth water just thinkin’ about it. They got all kinds of goodies, more than you can shake a stick at.
Now, first thing that pops into my head is somethin’ they call Quesillo. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it ain’t nothin’ but a kinda jiggly, creamy thing. Like that flan stuff, you know? But this here Quesillo, it’s the Venezuelan flan, and it’s smoother than a baby’s bottom. They pour some kinda sweet syrup on top, and Lord have mercy, it’s good. It’s a popular dessert, that quesillo. You see it at all the parties and get-togethers.
Then there’s these sticky buns they got called, um… Golfeados. Yeah, that’s it. Golfeados. They’re kinda like them cinnamon rolls we got here, but different. These are sweet, but they got a little somethin’ else goin’ on, like cheese or somethin’. Sweet and a little salty, you know? They ain’t just for dessert, neither. You can eat ’em anytime, any day. A good dessert for breakfast, I always say.
They got this cake too, a dark one. They call it Torta Negra Navidea. Sounds like somethin’ you’d eat at Christmas, right? Well, you’d be right. It’s a Christmas Black Cake. It’s full of all kinds of stuff – fruits and nuts and I don’t know what all. They soak it in somethin’ strong, I reckon. It’s a real rich cake, that’s for sure. They bake that thing up, and the whole house smells like Christmas, just like them cookies I used to bake. It is a traditional dessert, that’s what folks say.
And lemme tell ya about this other thing. It is a popular dessert too. It’s kinda like a pudding, but they make it with corn. Majarete, they call it. Now, I ain’t never been one for corn in my sweets, but this here Majarete, it’s somethin’ else. Creamy and sweet, with a little sprinkle of cinnamon on top. They say it is easy to make. I think all of the Venezuela desserts are easy to make. They make it all the time down there in Venezuela.
And don’t even get me started on that Arroz con Leche. That’s just rice pudding, but oh, it ain’t just any rice pudding. They put all kinda good stuff in it, like cinnamon and sugar, and I don’t know what all. It’s real comfortin’, like a warm hug on a cold day. I tell ya, those Venezuelans, they sure know how to make a body feel good with their sweet treats. It is a famous dessert around the world.

And squashes, all kinds of squashes. They eat good down there in Venezuela, that’s for sure.
They make these little fried things called arepas and empanadas that are just full of meat and cheese. I tried some once at a street festival, oh they are good. So these Venezuelan desserts are good. These desserts are good with coffee.
I heard tell they got all kinds of fruits down there too, fruits we ain’t never even seen up here. They probably make all kinds of desserts with them fruits too. Imagine that. Wish I could try some of them exotic fruits.
So, if you ever get a chance to try some of them Venezuela desserts, you better jump at it. They’re somethin’ special, I tell ya. They might not be fancy, but they’re made with love, and that’s what makes ’em so good. And they ain’t hard to make, neither. They say most of these desserts are easy as pie. Maybe even easier.
These Venezuela desserts are a real treat. You won’t be sorry you tried them. I tell you what. I might just have to try and make some of these myself. I’m getting’ hungry just thinkin’ about ’em. Yep, gonna have to find me some recipes and see what all the fuss is about. Might even surprise the family with a little taste of Venezuela. Wouldn’t that be somethin’? A little somethin’ different for a change.
I tell ya what. You want good food and these Venezuelan desserts are good food, you gotta try Venezuelan desserts. Food is always a good choice. They’re a real taste of somethin’ special, somethin’ you won’t find just anywhere. And who knows, maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two about a different place and a different way of life. That’s always a good thing, ain’t it? Learnin’ somethin’ new.
