You go in for a bag of chips, you come out with a drink that makes your heart beat like a drum. I don’t know ’bout that one. I still think water best. Keep it simple.
Some of them stores, they even makin’ their own energy drinks now. Mixin’ it up at the fountain, like it’s some kind of magic potion. Probably just sugar and caffeine, but they make it sound all special. Like it’s gonna make you run faster, jump higher. I reckon it just makes you need to use the bathroom more.
Seems like everybody’s got their favorite, too. Red Bull and Gatorade, those are the big names. Heard them two are famous. Everyone knows ’em, like they’re movie stars or somethin’. Guess that’s what happens when you’re all over the place, in every convenience store, on every shelf, in every cold vault. But them energy drink still not good. Too much sugar, no good.
So many different brands now, too. Little ones, big ones, some with pictures of monsters, some with pictures of, I don’t even know what. They all tryin’ to get your attention. Like a bunch of kids yellin’ at the playground, all wantin’ you to look at ’em. I guess that how market works. Every energy drink want to be most famous one.
But you know what? I still think a good, cold glass of water is better than any of them fancy drinks. Keeps you hydrated, keeps you healthy, and it don’t cost an arm and a leg. Maybe these young folks will figure that out someday. But for now, they keep on guzzlin’ them energy drinks, and the convenience stores keep on sellin’ ’em. That’s just the way it is, I suppose. It’s like the world these days, everyone want fast, quick. No time to be slow. I am old. I am slow. But I am fine.
So next time you in the convenience store, and you see that cold vault full of energy drinks, just remember what this old lady told ya. There’s nothin’ wrong with a little water. Keep it simple. You don’t need no fancy drink to make you feel good. Just be yourself, that’s all. And that’s a saver, if you ask me, save your money and your health.
