Are Zinser Cookies Really That Good? Honest Review From a Cookie Lover

You want to talk about that zinser cookies? Well, let me tell you, I heard somethin’ about them cookies. Some folks call them Linzer cookies. They say it’s a real fancy name, but it’s just a cookie, ain’t it?

What’s a Zinser Cookie?

These zinser cookies, or whatever they call ’em, they’re like two cookies stuck together. And guess what’s in the middle? Jam! That’s right, like the kind you put on your bread. They say it’s usually raspberry, but I reckon you can use any kind you like. I once saw some cookies with apricot jam in the middle. They are so sweet. These cookies are pretty, though, I’ll give ’em that.

They got this hole on top, so you can see the jam peekin’ through. And they sprinkle that white powdery sugar all over. Makes ’em look like they been out in the snow. These cookies, they ain’t like your regular chocolate chip. Chocolate chip cookies are good, don’t get me wrong. Everyone loves those, especially with a big glass of milk. They’re easy. But these zinser cookies, they’re a bit more work. They need more care. You gotta roll out the dough just right, not too thick, not too thin.

Zinser Cookies for Christmas

Folks like to make these zinser cookies around Christmas time. They say it’s a tradition. I guess they look kinda festive, all red and white. Like little Santa hats or somethin’. They say these cookies are perfect for Christmas. Yeah, they are perfect, but a little bit difficult for me. But I guess you can make them whenever you want. Birthdays, holidays, or just cause you got a sweet tooth. And if you see them in a bakery, they’ll cost you a pretty penny. That’s how it always is. Homemade’s always cheaper. My neighbor, she used to buy her cookies at the store.

Zinser Cookies are not Oreo

Now, you might be thinkin’, “Cookies are cookies.” But these ain’t like those Oreo cookies you see everywhere. Those are different. They’re all chocolatey and got that cream in the middle. And they’re so famous, everyone and their mama’s heard of ’em. They say Oreo is the best-selling cookie all over the world. So many countries sell that cookie. But these zinser cookies, they’re more, how you say, delicate. Like somethin’ you’d see at a fancy tea party, not just somethin’ you’d dunk in your milk. Although, I bet they’d be good dunked in milk, too.

When I was a little girl, we didn’t have these fancy cookies. We had simple cookies, made with whatever we had in the kitchen. Flour, sugar, butter, maybe some eggs if the hens were layin’ good. We didn’t have no fancy jams or special cutters. We just used a glass to cut out circles. And they were good, too. Maybe not as pretty, but they tasted just fine.

Making Zinser Cookies

If you want to make these zinser cookies, you gotta have some patience. It ain’t a quick job. You gotta make the dough, chill it in the icebox, then roll it out and cut out all those little shapes. Then you gotta bake ’em, but not for too long, or they’ll get all hard and crunchy. Then you gotta let ’em cool before you put the jam on. And then you gotta put the top cookie on just right, so the jam doesn’t squish out all over the place. It’s a whole process, I tell ya.

But I guess if you got the time, and you like to bake, it’s worth it. They do look pretty, all lined up on a plate. And I bet they taste good, too. Especially with that raspberry jam. I do love raspberries. They make you feel good. My grandma used to make raspberry jam every summer. We’d go out to the bushes and pick ’em till our fingers were all stained red. Then she’d boil ’em up with sugar and put ’em in jars. That jam was the best. Better than anythin’ you can buy at the store.

These zinser cookies, they remind me a bit of those jam-filled cookies my grandma used to make. Hers weren’t as fancy, though. She just put a dollop of jam on top of each cookie before she baked ’em. But they were still good. Warm and sweet, right out of the oven. There’s nothin’ better than a homemade cookie, I always say. These cookies also remind me of those Girl Scout cookies. You know, those cookies those little girls sell every year. They got all kinds of cookies. Some are good, some are not that good. I always buy some boxes to support them little girls.

Zinser Cookies are Good

So, if you’re thinkin’ about tryin’ these zinser cookies, I say go for it. They might be a bit of work, but they’re somethin’ special. And who knows, maybe you’ll start a new tradition in your family. Just remember to be patient, and don’t be afraid to get your hands a little messy. That’s the best part of bakin’, ain’t it? Gettin’ in there and makin’ somethin’ with your own two hands. And eatin’ it, of course. That’s the real reward. Yeah, these cookies are good. I heard many people say that. I think I should try to make them one day. Maybe next Christmas. I hope I can make the perfect zinser cookies.

These cookies are famous. You can find them in those cookie maker stores. I saw them on TV. A man was talking about them. He said his cookies are the best. I don’t know. Maybe they are good. I think I still prefer homemade cookies. They are always better. That’s what I always say. You can make so many different cookies at home. You just need a good cookie book. My friend Mary, she has so many cookie books. She knows how to make many different cookies. I should ask her for some advice. She is really good at making cookies. I love her chocolate cookies. They are so good.

Anyways, these zinser cookies are worth trying. I hope you can make them perfectly. Good luck with that. Remember, baking cookies takes time. Don’t rush. Enjoy the process.
