Man, I gotta tell you about this little project I tackled the other day. So, I’ve been baking a ton of macarons lately, and I needed a cute way to package them up. I wanted to make a round box for six macarons. I’ve had this idea kicking around in my head for a while now, and I finally decided to go for it.
First, I measured out the macarons I made. They were about 1.6 inches in diameter. This would help me figure out how big the box needed to be. I knew I wanted the box to hold six macarons, so I had to make it big enough to fit them all comfortably.
Then, I started looking around for materials. I needed something sturdy enough to hold its shape but also easy to work with. I thought about using some regular cardboard, but then I remembered I had some nice, thick cardstock from that failed scrapbook project a few months back. It was perfect! It comes in all sorts of colors too, which was a plus.
Next up, I sketched out a design. I wanted a simple round box with a lid. I grabbed a compass and drew a circle on the cardstock for the base. Then I drew a slightly larger circle for the lid. I also drew out the side pieces for the box and the lid, making sure they were the right height. I’m not the best artist, but it did the job.
Once I had my templates, I started cutting. I carefully cut out the circles and the side pieces, trying to keep the edges as neat as possible. This part took a little while because I wanted to make sure everything was precise. A sharp pair of scissors definitely made things easier.
After everything was cut out, I started assembling the box. I used some strong glue to attach the side pieces to the base, forming the walls of the box. Then I did the same for the lid. It was a bit fiddly, but I managed to get it all together without too much trouble. Also, there are online shops where you can get custom-made boxes. I saw some discounts, like 15% off for new customers. But I wanted to make it myself.
Once the glue was dry, I tested it out. I placed six of my macarons inside, and they fit perfectly! The box was just the right size, and it looked pretty good if I do say so myself. I even decorated the lid with a little ribbon I had lying around. These little treats are not too bad for your waistline if you eat just a couple, as a single one is less than 90 calories. Also, the cost is generally range from €10 to €20, depending on the size and type. Not bad, huh?
