Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this “Ultimate Dinner Guest Crossword” thing popping up everywhere lately. It’s like, the hot new puzzle, you know? I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, I’m pretty good with words, and I love a good challenge. So, I started looking into it.
First, I went online and just started searching for any clues or tips I could find. There’s a ton of stuff out there, which was kind of overwhelming, to be honest. A lot of websites claim to have the answers, but they seemed kind of sketchy. I wasn’t about to get involved with anything shady, so I just kept digging.
I did notice a few things though. One tip that kept coming up was to pay attention to the tense and number in the clues. Like, if the clue is in the past tense, the answer probably ends in “ed” or something. Seemed simple enough, but it actually helped a lot. I was starting to feel like a real detective.
I also found out that these crosswords get harder as the week goes on. Mondays are supposed to be the easiest, and Saturdays are the hardest. Sundays are a whole different beast. They are bigger and published in the New York Times Magazine, no less. I decided to start with a Monday puzzle. Baby steps, right?
So, I grabbed a puzzle and started working on it. I used the tense and number trick, and it was actually working! I started filling in some of the blanks. Some clues were easier than others. I spent a good chunk of time just staring at some of them, trying to figure out what they meant. It was frustrating, but also kind of fun. Like a mental workout.
- Started searching: I spent hours online looking for clues and tips.
- Used the tense trick: I paid attention to past, present, and future tense in clues.
- Started with a Monday puzzle: I decided to start with an easier puzzle.
- Felt like a detective: It was fun trying to figure out the clues.
The moment of truth
After a while, I finally started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I was getting more and more answers right. I kept going, and slowly but surely, I filled in most of the grid. I started to look for more and more information and found a couple of websites that listed some answers and solutions. I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s not cheating right? Well, I started to see some of the answers that I had not been able to complete and decided to use them. I ended up using all the tools I could find, like crosswords solvers and clue databases. I mean, if they are out there why not, right?
Finally, after a lot of brainpower and a few maybe cheats, I did it! I finished the crossword. It was such a satisfying feeling. Like I had conquered some great challenge. I felt so proud of myself. I’m definitely going to try another one next week. Maybe I’ll even try a Saturday puzzle someday. We’ll see. But for now, I’m just going to bask in the glory of my crossword victory. And hey, maybe next time I’ll even try to do it without looking up any answers. Maybe.
