Okay, so I’ve been on a bit of a Nutella kick lately. And who hasn’t, right? That stuff is amazing. I had some puff pastry in the fridge that was about to expire and I’m not letting that thing go to waste. So, I thought, why not combine the two? Best idea ever. I did it today, and it turned out so good, I just have to share.
First, I preheated my oven. I set it to 400°F (about 200°C). While that was heating up, I grabbed the puff pastry and rolled it out on a lightly floured surface. Just a little bit of flour, you know, so it doesn’t stick.
Then came the best part. I took a big spoon of Nutella – and I mean a BIG spoon – and spread it all over the pastry. I tried to get it nice and even, but honestly, it doesn’t really matter. The more Nutella, the better, in my opinion!
Next, I carefully rolled up the pastry, starting from one of the long edges. It was a bit messy, but that’s part of the fun, right? Once it was all rolled up, I cut it into slices. I made them about an inch thick, but you can do whatever size you like.
I placed the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This is important because it prevents sticking and makes cleanup way easier. Before baking, I whisked an egg with a teaspoon of water and brushed it over each slice. It gave them a nice golden color, which was awesome! You can totally skip the egg wash if you want to.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out puff pastry.
- Spread Nutella generously.
- Roll up the pastry.
- Cut into slices.
- Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Brush with egg wash(optional).
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes.
Here’s a quick recap of what I did:
I popped them in the oven and baked them for about 15-20 minutes, until they were golden brown and puffy. The smell was amazing! When they were done, I took them out and let them cool for a few minutes. That’s it! Super simple, and it tasted like heaven. If you’ve got some puff pastry and Nutella lying around, you gotta try this!
