Worried About Stains? Does Drinking Green Tea Stain Your Teeth? Heres What You Need to Know!
Okay, so, I’ve been hearing a lot of chatter online about whether green tea stains your teeth or not. I mean, I’m a huge green tea drinker, it’s my go-to morning beverage, so this got me thinking. I decided I’d do a little experiment on myself, you know, for science!
I started by taking a good look at my teeth in the mirror, checking for any existing stains. They looked pretty normal to me, maybe a little yellowish ’cause, well, I’m human. I figured this was my baseline. Then, I committed to drinking at least two cups of green tea every day for a month. I brewed it myself, nothing fancy, just regular green tea bags from the grocery store. I made sure not to add anything to it, like lemon or sugar. Just pure, unadulterated green tea.
- First week in, didn’t notice anything different. Teeth looked the same, green tea tasted great as usual.
- By week two, I started to wonder if maybe, just maybe, my teeth were a smidge darker. But, it was hard to tell for sure. Could have been the lighting, right?
- Week three, I started taking pictures of my teeth every morning, trying to keep the lighting consistent. I’m no photographer, but I did my best. I examined my teeth by my phone every day, It’s not easy to tell the change.
- Week four, and I definitely noticed that there’s something change about my teeth, compared to those photos I’d been taking, I feel my teeth was a bit darker than before. I mean, it wasn’t super obvious, not like I’d been chugging black coffee or anything, but there was a subtle difference.
After a full month of my green tea experiment, here’s what I concluded: green tea might stain your teeth a little, but it’s really not that bad. I mean, it’s way less noticeable than what I’ve heard about coffee or black tea doing. If you’re a regular green tea drinker like me, I wouldn’t freak out about it. However, I want to try to remove these stains, maybe I can find something useful, I will do that later.
And remember, I’m just a regular guy doing a little home experiment. Everyone’s different, so your mileage may vary. I know it’s not a professional way to do this, but I just want to share my experience with you. It’s all for fun!
