Arcoiris Cookies: Try This Easy Recipe for Colorful and Delicious Cookies

So, I tried making these rainbow cookies, you know, the ones that look super cool with all the colors? Well, let me tell you, it was quite the adventure!

First off, I gathered all my stuff. I found a simple recipe. I needed a bunch of butter, sugar, eggs, the usual suspects for cookies. Plus, a whole rainbow of food coloring. Oh, and some orange marmalade, which I thought was kind of random, but hey, I went with it.

Getting Started

I started by mixing the butter and sugar together until it was all fluffy. Then, I cracked in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each one. It was a bit of a workout, to be honest, but I managed.

Next, I added the dry ingredients. Flour, baking powder, a pinch of salt. I mixed everything until it formed a nice dough. So far, so good, right?

Color Time

Here’s where things got interesting. I divided the dough into six equal parts. Then, I added a different color of food coloring to each part. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. My hands ended up looking like I’d been finger-painting, but it was worth it. The dough looked amazing!

  • Made six balls of dough.
  • Dyed each one a different color.
  • Looked like a rainbow explosion in my kitchen!

Layering Up

Now came the tricky part. I had to layer the colors on top of each other. I rolled out each color into a rectangle. I was doing my best. They were all different thicknesses. I spread a thin layer of that orange marmalade between each layer. I guess that’s what makes them stick together. This part was messy, to say the least. The marmalade was everywhere!

Bake and See

After what felt like forever, I finally got all the layers stacked up. I wrapped the whole thing in plastic wrap and popped it in the fridge for a while to chill. Then, I sliced the dough into cookies and baked them.

The moment of truth! They came out of the oven looking… well, not exactly like the pictures. Some of the colors had bled into each other, and they weren’t perfectly square. But you know what? They still looked pretty cool, and they tasted delicious! A little wonky, a little messy, but hey, that’s baking for you. And 1 1/3 cups of orange marmalade is not too bad, either.

So, would I make these again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but the end result was definitely fun. Plus, I learned a lot along the way. Like, maybe next time I’ll use a ruler when I’m rolling out the dough. And wear gloves. Definitely wear gloves.

All in all, it was a fun experiment. Even if my kitchen looked like a rainbow had exploded in it afterward.
