First off, I started by gathering all my materials. I had this big, flat stone in my backyard that I thought would make a perfect base. Then I needed a water pump, some tubing, a basin, and some smaller stones for decoration. I already had most of these things lying around, but I did have to make a quick trip to the hardware store for the pump and some extra tubing.
The first thing I did was clean the large stone thoroughly. I wanted to make sure there was no dirt or debris that could contaminate the water. Once it was clean, I placed it in the spot where I wanted the fountain to be. It’s a nice shady area in my garden, so my pets can enjoy a cool drink even on hot days.
Next, I dug a small hole near the stone to place the basin in. The basin is where the water pump will sit and the water will pool before being circulated. I made sure the basin was level and secure.

The water trickled down the large stone, creating a small stream, and then collected in the basin, where it was pumped back up again.
