Drink Can Return Caraluzzi
Well, I tell ya, this whole can return thing, it ain’t always so easy, you know? Especially when you’re talkin’ about places like Caraluzzi’s. Used to be, you just took your bottles and cans back, got your pennies, done deal. Now, it’s all computers and barcodes and whatnot. Confusin’ as all get-out, sometimes.
So, you wanna know ’bout drink can returns at Caraluzzi’s, huh? First thing’s first, you gotta be a Caraluzzi’s CARE Rewards Member, or so they say. Now, I ain’t always sure what that means, but they got this card, see? You swipe it and they give you points or somethin’. Maybe you get a discount or somethin’ back later on, I dunno. They say, “all discounts are applied at the register”, so I guess it’s important. They also say, “CARE rewards are added to your CARE digital wallet after a purchase”. Gotta have that card though, seems like.
Anyways, bring your cans back, clean ‘em out a bit, don’t be leavin’ no sticky soda all over the place. Nobody likes a mess. They got these machines now, you stick the can in, it reads the barcode, and if it likes it, you get your money. But sometimes, them machines are picky, I tell ya. Real picky. They say, “Quick and easy handling of returns or credits”, but sometimes it ain’t so quick and easy, lemme tell ya.
And here’s the kicker, right? What if the machine don’t take your can? Then what? Well, I heard tell you gotta go to the service counter. Yep, just like they do over at Meijer, I think, though the last time I was in there, their can return machine was acting up, too. Some fella at Meijer told me this: “If the Meijer (or anywhere else’s) can returns do not accept a can, bring it to the service counter. In MI.”. So, you take your can to the nice lady or fella at the counter, and they’ll sort it out, hopefully. They better, after all, they charged you for the darn deposit in the first place. Sometimes it’s this kind of situation: “Some bottles can only be funded for the deposit at the store you bought it from. If the …”. That’s how the folks over there in Germany do it I reckon.
Now, I don’t know ’bout them fancy shippin’ rules, what with all the “standard shippin’” and “FedEx expedited” and all that. They say, “Standard shipping is free and may take 3 to 7 days. Fedex expedited shipping price is determined by ship to address of the package. Shipping times may vary depending on season.” But that’s for when you order something, right? I ain’t orderin’ nothin’, I’m just bringin’ back my cans! They say Caraluzzis offers the best prices, “You can’t get these prices anywhere else.” So maybe they figure you’ll just buy more stuff with the money you get back from your cans.
- Make sure your cans are clean.
- Have your Caraluzzi’s CARE Rewards card handy.
- If the machine doesn’t work, go to the service counter.
- Keep track of your receipts, just in case.
And don’t forget, some places, they only take certain cans. Like, if you got some weird beer can from way out of state, maybe they won’t take it. One fella was asking about Ontario beer cans, if I remember right. Something like, “Hey guys, i got a question regarding beer can return in Ontario. Does the non-alcoholic beer cans ,purchasable from The Beer Store and any other grocery store.” See? It ain’t always simple. Or maybe it is, and I’m just gettin’ old and confused.
But here’s the bottom line. You paid for that deposit, so you should get it back. And if Caraluzzi’s gives you a hard time, you just tell ’em what for! Or maybe just ask nicely at the service counter, that’s probably better. They’re usually pretty helpful. After all, they want your business, right? They want you to buy more of their “low-price”, stuff and keep on returnin’ those cans. Makes the world a little bit cleaner, too, so that’s a good thing. Even if the machines are a pain in the neck sometimes.
One last thing, I ain’t sure about other kinds of drinks, you know? Like them juice boxes or milk jugs. They got deposits on some of them too, I think. They say, “Beverage containers registered within our recycling system are eligible for a full deposit refund at all Return-It collection sites. This includes but is not limited to soft drinks, juice, water, milk.” So, maybe it’s the same deal with the cans. You take ‘em back, get your money back, and everybody’s happy. Or mostly happy. It’s complicated these days, but we’ll figure it out, right?
