Well, let me tell ya, talkin’ ‘bout them fajita side things, you know? Fajitas, they’re good and all, but you gotta have somethin’ to go with ‘em, right? Can’t just eat a pile of meat and peppers by itself, that ain’t right.
First thing comes to mind is that rice, you know, the Mexican kind. Not just plain ol’ white rice, no sir. This here rice, it’s got all sorts of stuff in it, makes it look pretty and taste good too. Sometimes they put tomatoes in it, call it Spanish rice, I think. Whatever you call it, it’s good with fajitas. And if you want to get fancy, you can throw some black beans in with the rice. That’s what my daughter-in-law does sometimes, makes it kinda Latin-y, she says.
Then there’s them beans. Not just any beans, mind you, but refried beans. Now, you can buy them in a can, but the best ones are the ones you make yourself, slow and easy in that crock pot thingy. They get all soft and mushy, perfect for scoopin’ up with a tortilla. You put a big ol’ spoonful of them beans right next to your fajitas, and it’s just…right.
- Rice is a must, gotta have it. Mexican rice, Spanish rice, whatever you call it. And maybe some black beans mixed in too, if you’re feelin’ fancy.
- Refried beans, the kind you make yourself if you got the time. But canned ones work in a pinch, I guess. Just make sure they’re warm.
Now, let’s talk about fixin’s, you know, the stuff you put on top. Seems like everyone likes different things, but some are just plain popular. Cheese, for one. Gotta have cheese, melts all nice and gooey on them hot fajitas. And salsa, that’s important too. Gives it a little kick, you know? Some folks like it hot, some like it mild, but you gotta have some salsa.
And don’t forget the sour cream. Cools things down a bit, especially if you got that spicy salsa. And then there’s that guacamole stuff, made with avocados. I ain’t always got time for that, but it’s mighty tasty. Some folks put chicken on top of their fajitas, but that don’t make sense to me, since fajitas already got chicken in ‘em! You can add other stuff too, like sliced avocado if you got extra, or maybe some lemon or lime juice to make it tangy. Lettuce, peppers, onions, all that green stuff, it’s good for you, I guess.
Now, some folks say fajitas can be healthy, but I don’t know about that. Seems like a lot of work to make ‘em healthy. But I guess if you use chicken and lots of peppers and onions, it ain’t too bad. And if you’re worried about the carbs, you could use somethin’ else instead of tortillas. My niece, she uses zucchini, can you believe it? Or mushrooms. Crazy, I tell ya. But hey, to each their own.
And one more thing, don’t forget the fresh herbs! You know, like that cilantro stuff. Chop it up and sprinkle it on top, makes it taste all fresh and…herby. Parsley works too, if you ain’t got cilantro.
So there you have it, all the stuff you can eat with your fajitas. Rice, beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and all sorts of other things. Just pick what you like and pile it on! It’s all about makin’ a good meal, somethin’ that fills you up and tastes good. That’s what matters, right? Now go on and make yourself some fajitas, and don’t forget the side dishes!
