Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get one of those dessert tier stands for a while now. You know, the ones that make even the most boring cookies look fancy? Well, I finally decided to actually make one myself. Let me tell you, it was a journey.
First, I spent ages trying to figure out what kind of stand I wanted. There are so many options! Single tier, double tier, triple tier… I even saw some called “etagere” or “cake tower”. Finally, I settled on a three-tier stand because, well, more tiers equals more space for desserts, right?
Next, I started looking into materials. Some people online said glass or porcelain is best, but I wanted something sturdier. Especially since I have a clumsy cat who likes to jump on everything. So, I decided to use some old plates I had lying around. They are made of some kind of ceramic, pretty heavy, and have this nice, wide base. Perfect for stability.
Then came the fun part – actually putting it together. Now, I’m no DIY expert, but I figured it couldn’t be that hard. I found some metal rods and connectors at the hardware store. The plates were rimmed with an 11-inch diameter. It took some measuring and drilling, but I finally managed to attach the rods to the plates, creating the three tiers.
- Get three plates in decreasing sizes.
- Find metal rods and connectors.
- Measure and drill holes in the plates.
- Assemble the stand.
And you know what? It actually turned out pretty good! It’s not perfect, a little wonky in places, but it’s mine. And it holds a decent amount of cupcakes, which is all that really matters. Now all that’s left is to bake some treats to put on it.
My Homemade Dessert Stand
It wasn’t easy, but I’m really happy with how my dessert stand turned out. It’s a good feeling to create something with your own hands, even if it’s just a simple stand for displaying desserts. Plus, now I have a unique piece that fits perfectly with my kitchen. And I didn’t even have to spend a lot of money. Win-win!
