If they’re old enough to not drop their milk glass, they’re probably old enough for a glass straw. My grandson, little Timmy, he’s a clumsy one, though. Maybe not for him yet.
Now, these straws, they say they’re good for the earth. “Eco-friendly,” they call it. Says they don’t mess up the planet like them plastic ones. I ain’t no scientist, but I reckon it’s gotta be true, seeing as how glass is just made from sand, right? And they say glass is clean, real clean. Smoother than a baby’s bottom, they say, and nothin’ gets stuck on it. That sounds alright, I guess. Nobody wants to be sucking on a dirty straw.
And get this, they last forever, or so they say. Long as you don’t drop ‘em, I guess. That’s more than I can say for them plastic ones, always bending and breaking. My daughter, she’s always buyin’ new straws, it’s a waste of money if you ask me. Maybe if these glass ones last longer, it’ll save her a few pennies. And if they don’t break, you can just wash ’em and use ’em again and again. Now, that does seem handy.

Where to buy ’em? Well, I seen ’em at the big stores, and my daughter says you can even get ’em online. eBay, she calls it. Says they got all sorts of things there. And some places, they even send ’em to your house for free! Imagine that! Back in my day, you had to go to the store for everything. Now you just sit on your behind and wait for the mailman.
You know, I’ve been thinkin’. Maybe these glass straws ain’t so bad after all. If they’re safer, better for the planet, and last longer, well, maybe it’s time to give ‘em a try. I ain’t sayin’ I’m gonna throw out all my plastic straws just yet, but maybe I’ll get a few of these glass ones for when the grandkids come over. Long as little Timmy don’t get his hands on ’em, we should be alright.
Anyways, that’s just my two cents on these glass straws. You do what you think is best for your family. Me, I’m just an old woman tryin’ to make sense of all these newfangled things. But hey, if it makes things a little bit better, a little bit cleaner, and a little bit safer, then I guess it’s worth a shot.
Just remember to handle them carefully. Glass breaks, ya know. And nobody wants to be picking up tiny shards of glass from the floor. So be careful, and happy sippin’!
