Okay, so I got invited to this dinner party, right? And I’m supposed to bring a dessert. Now, I’m no pastry chef, but I do like to bake when I have the time. But this time, I have to work and leave it to the last minute, I really don’t have a lot of time to spare. So, I started looking around for something that wouldn’t take forever but would still be, you know, impressive.
First, I checked my pantry. Not much going on there – some flour, sugar, the usual suspects. I don’t have many ingredients on hand, definitely needed something simple. Then it hit me: easy recipes are the way to go! I remember seeing something about desserts you can make with just five ingredients or less. Perfect! My mission became: easy and quick, less than five ingredients. I am going to find some recipes, and compare them later.
I started browsing online, searching for “easy desserts to impress” and “quick dessert recipes”. I found a bunch of stuff. Some of them were looked really fancy and time-consuming, so I skipped those. I needed something I could whip up in like, 15 minutes tops. Then, I start to compare them.
I finally settled on three simple recipes. They are all very easy and quick, with five or fewer ingredients needed.
- S’mores: I’m going to need graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars.
- Trifles: I will have to grab some pudding mix, whipped cream, and fresh berries.
- Pies: I can use store-bought pie crust, some canned pie filling, and maybe some whipped cream for the top.
I decided to go with the pies. It’s the easiest option for me because the other two need to assemble on site.
So, here’s what I did. I went to the store and grabbed a pre-made pie crust, a can of cherry pie filling (because who doesn’t like cherry pie?), and a tub of whipped cream. Back home, I preheated the oven to 375°F (190°C) like the pie crust package said. I poured the cherry filling into the crust, and popped it in the oven. The package said to bake it for about 30-40 minutes, but I kept an eye on it and took it out when the crust was golden brown and the filling was all bubbly.
Then I let it cool for a bit (this was the hardest part, honestly). Once it was cool enough, I dolloped some whipped cream on top, and boom, I’ve got a dessert! I think it turned out pretty good for something so simple. Hopefully, my friends will like it too!
I am still thinking about how to bring it to the dinner party, but I am pretty sure it is going to be a big hit. The smell is so good.
