Alright, let me tell ya ’bout some sweets, the kind that start with the letter “S”. You know, the stuff that makes your mouth water and your belly happy. I ain’t no fancy cook or nothin’, but I know what tastes good, and I’m gonna share it with ya.
Strawberry Shortcake, now that’s somethin’ special. It’s like sunshine in your mouth. You got them sweet berries, all juicy and red, and that crumbly biscuit stuff underneath. And don’t forget the whipped cream on top! Makes it all fluffy and sweet. My grandkids, they go crazy for it, especially in the summer when them berries are ripe and plump.
Then there’s Strawberry Cake. It’s kinda like the shortcake but different, you see? It’s got more cake and less of that biscuit stuff. And the strawberries, they’re all mixed in, not just on top. I ain’t got no fancy recipe, but I reckon it’s just flour, sugar, eggs, and a whole lotta strawberries. It’s easy to make, even for an old woman like me.
Let me think, what else starts with “S”? Oh yeah, Sherbet! That’s the stuff that’s kinda like ice cream but not quite. It’s got that fruity taste, real refreshing on a hot day. My favorite is the orange kind, but they got all sorts of flavors, like raspberry and lime too. It’s good for when you want somethin’ sweet but not too heavy.
- Sugar Cookies. Them simple little cookies, just sugar and flour and butter. You can cut ’em into shapes, like stars or hearts. Kids love decoratin’ ’em with sprinkles and frosting.
- S’mores. Oh, them gooey treats! You roast a marshmallow over a fire, then you stick it between two graham crackers with a piece of chocolate. Messy, but oh so good! We used to make ’em when we went camping.
- Sweet Potato Pie. Now, that’s a Southern classic. It’s sweet and spicy, and it warms you right up. I make mine with lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s a good pie to bring to the church potluck. Everybody always wants a slice.
And there are so many other things, I reckon. Like sponge cake, that’s light and fluffy. And strudel, that flaky pastry with fruit inside. I tried making that once, but it was too much fuss for me. Too many layers and foldin’ and stuff. I prefer to stick to the simple things, you know?
You can make all sorts of sweet stuff with fruit, like stewed fruit. Just cook it down with some sugar and spices until it’s soft and gooey. Apples, peaches, pears, anything works. It’s good on its own or you can put it on top of yogurt or ice cream.
And speaking of ice cream, they got sundaes. That’s when you take a scoop of ice cream and put all kinds of stuff on top. Chocolate sauce, sprinkles, whipped cream, nuts, cherries, you name it! It’s a real treat, special occasion kind of thing.
I tell ya, there’s just so many desserts out there, all startin’ with that “S.” Makes you hungry just thinkin’ about it! Now I gotta go find me somethin’ sweet to eat. Maybe a little piece of that strawberry cake I made yesterday. Or maybe I’ll just grab a handful of sugar cookies. Either way, it’ll be good, I reckon.
So there you have it, a whole bunch of desserts that start with “S”. I bet you can think of some more too. Maybe some fancy ones I ain’t never heard of. But these are the ones I know and love, the ones that remind me of home and family and good times. And ain’t that what desserts are all about?
And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try making your own sweets. Don’t be scared to experiment a little. Add a little of this, a little of that. You might just come up with somethin’ amazing. And even if it ain’t perfect, it’ll still taste good, ’cause you made it with your own two hands. And that’s the best kind of sweet treat, I reckon.
