Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Newport Dinner Train, or whatever they call it now…Grand Bellevue somethin’ somethin’. Anyways, it’s a train, and they feed ya on it. Fancy, huh?
First off, they say it’s real pretty, this train ride. Goes by some bay, Narragansett they call it. Said to be one of the prettiest views on the East Coast. Now, I ain’t seen it myself, but that’s what folks are sayin’. Makes ya think it’s gotta be somethin’ special, all them fancy folks goin’ on about it.
They pick ya up at this Newport Station place. Sounds grand, don’t it? And then you’re on that train for two and a half hours! That’s a long time to be sittin’ and eatin’, if ya ask me. But I guess if the view is nice, and the food is good, time flies, right?
Speaking of food, they start ya off with somethin’ small, an appetizer they call it. And a salad, too. Nothin’ too fancy, just regular greens, I reckon. Now, I ain’t one for fancy eatin’. Give me a good ol’ potato and some meat, and I’m happy. But these folks, they like their little portions and pretty plates. To each their own, I always say.
- They say it’s a “gourmet restaurant on the rails.” Sounds mighty highfalutin to me.
- But I hear the food is pretty good. Not just slop, ya know? They put some effort into it.
- And the service, well, I hope it’s better than some places I’ve been. Nothin’ worse than a grumpy waiter, am I right?
The whole thing lasts two and a half hours, like I said. That’s enough time to get your belly full and see some sights. They call it a “memorable evening” and I guess it is, for those who like that sort of thing. Dressin’ up, eatin’ fancy food, lookin’ at the water…it ain’t my cup of tea, but plenty of folks seem to enjoy it.
Now, I heard you can find pictures and whatnots online, reviews too. Folks talkin’ ’bout their experience. Some love it, some say it’s overpriced. You know how it is, can’t please everyone. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different to do, and you got the money to spend, it might be worth checkin’ out. Just don’t expect me to go with ya! My idea of a good time is sittin’ on the porch with a glass of iced tea, watchin’ the world go by. Not much for all that fancy stuff, me.
But hey, if you’re in Newport and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, this train thing might be just the ticket. Just remember, it ain’t cheap! You’re payin’ for the food, the view, and the whole experience. So make sure it’s somethin’ you really wanna do before you go spendin’ your hard-earned cash.
And one more thing, they used to just call it the Newport Dinner Train, but now it’s got that fancy name, The Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience. Sounds like they’re tryin’ to make it even more upscale, if you ask me. But hey, as long as the food is good and the train don’t derail, I guess it don’t matter what they call it.
So there ya have it, that’s the lowdown on this Newport Dinner Train, or whatever it’s called. A fancy train ride with food and a view. If that sounds like your kinda thing, go for it. Just don’t forget to tell me all about it when you get back!
