I seen some cookies that look like little works of art, too pretty to eat, almost. But don’t let that stop ya, they taste just as good, pretty or not.
But here’s the thing, folks always ask, “Why them fancy cookies cost so much?” Well, let me tell ya, it ain’t just the ingredients, though that’s part of it. It’s the time, see? It takes a long time to make them cookies pretty. You gotta mix the dough, roll it out, cut it out, bake it just right, not too hard, not too soft. Then you gotta make the frosting, all them different colors, and then you gotta pipe it on, all fancy-like.
And it ain’t just one layer of frosting, oh no. Sometimes it’s layers and layers, different colors, different designs. It takes hours, sometimes days, to make a batch of them fancy cookies. And then you gotta package ’em up all nice, so they don’t break. It’s a whole lotta work, I tell ya.
I remember this one time, I made cookies for my niece’s wedding. Little flowers, all pink and white. Took me near a week, I swear. But when I seen her face light up, it was all worth it. But I know this, cookies been makin’ people happy for a long, long time, and that’s good enough for me.
And one last thing, when you’re eatin’ them decorative cookies, don’t be shy. Get a little messy, lick your fingers, enjoy every last crumb. That’s what cookies are for, after all. To make you smile and forget your troubles, even if it’s just for a little while.
