Alright, so ya wanna know ’bout this here… does distilled water expire thing, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t like that milk in the fridge, ya know? It don’t go bad like that.
I heard tell, if ya keep it in that there bottle, all sealed up tight like, it can last a good long while. Years, even. They say it don’t really have a “sell by” date, not like them eggs or that bread. But, and this is a big but, mind ya, if ya open it up, that’s a whole ‘nother story.
See, once ya pop that top, things can get in there. Dust, bugs, who knows what. Then it ain’t so pure no more, is it? It’s like leavin’ the screen door open – flies get in, and nobody wants that. So, if ya opened it, best use it up in a few weeks. That’s what I do with my well water, anyway. Keep it covered and it lasts longer.
- Unopened bottle: Good for a long, long time, years even, they say. Don’t worry too much about the date on the bottle, if there even is one.
- Opened bottle: Use it up quick, like in a few weeks. Don’t wanna be drinkin’ no dusty water, now do ya?
Now, some folks, they use this here distilled water for other things, not just drinkin’. Like them fancy coffee machines, or them irons for pressin’ clothes. I heard tell ya can use the old stuff for that, even if it’s been opened a while. It ain’t gonna hurt the machine, they say. But, if I was you, I’d stick to using the fresh stuff for drinkin’. That’s just common sense, right?
I remember my old ma used to say, “If it smells funny or tastes funny, don’t put it in ya belly!” And that goes for water too, even this here distilled stuff. If it smells off, or tastes weird, dump it out. Water ain’t supposed to smell like nothin’ but water, ya hear? It ain’t like that apple cider that gets tangy after a while.
They say them big companies that make this water, they gotta follow rules, keep it clean and all. So, if it comes from a store, in a bottle, it should be alright. But still, use your head. Look at the bottle, make sure it ain’t all beat up or lookin’ like it’s been sittin’ in the sun for a year. And like I said before, if it smells or tastes funny, toss it. Water’s cheap, ya don’t need to be takin’ chances.
So, to sum it up, does distilled water go bad? Not really, if ya keep it sealed up tight. But once ya open it, use it up quick. And always, always, use yer sniffer and yer taste buds. They’ll tell ya if somethin’ ain’t right. Don’t go drinkin’ nothin’ that seems off, that’s what I always say.
And another thing, don’t go believin’ everything ya read on the internet, ya hear? Folks say all sorts of things on there. Use your common sense, that’s the best tool ya got. If somethin’ don’t seem right, it probably ain’t. That’s what my pappy always told me.
So there ya have it, my two cents on this here distilled water business. Hope it helps ya out, and don’t go drinkin’ nothin’ funny now, ya hear?
In short: unopened distilled water lasts a long time. Opened, not so much. Always check for funny smells or tastes, and use your common sense. It ain’t rocket science.
