Get the Materials Ready
First things first, I needed to gather my materials. I rummaged through my recycling bin and found a couple of aluminum cans – perfect! Then I grabbed some scissors, pliers, and a ruler. Oh, and some tape, can’t forget that.
Cut the Cans
Next up, I carefully cut the top and bottom off the cans using the scissors. It was a bit tricky, but I managed to do it without cutting myself. I was left with these aluminum cylinders. I then cut those open so I got these flat sheets of metal. It was not hard, but sure, you need to be careful and watch out.
Shape the Metal
Now for the fun part! I used the ruler to measure out strips of aluminum. I wanted different sizes, so I made some strips wider than others. After cutting the strips, I started shaping them into circles. I used my hands and the pliers to bend the metal. It took a bit of elbow grease, but I eventually got them into pretty decent circles. Sometimes it’s not easy to bend, but the more I do it, the easier it gets.
Secure the Shape
- To keep the circular shape, I overlapped the ends of the strips and secured them with tape. I made sure the tape was nice and tight so the cutters wouldn’t fall apart.
- I pressed down on the edges of the circles with the pliers to make them a bit sharper. Not too sharp, though – I didn’t want to cut myself while using them!
- I made a few different sizes, from small circles for little cookies to bigger ones for, well, bigger cookies! I felt like a real pro by this point.
Test Them Out
Finally, the moment of truth! I whipped up a batch of cookie dough and used my homemade cutters to shape the cookies. They worked like a charm! The cookies came out perfectly round, and I was super proud of myself. Now when I need to make cookies, I just use these. They are not hard to use, and they are good!
