Top Panama Desserts You Must Try(A Guide for Sweet Lovers)

So, today I tried to make some Panama desserts. It’s pretty cool ’cause I found some unique recipes. I started with finding some local ingredients.

First, I went to the local market to grab some stuff like stale bread, sugar, eggs, and butter. I also looked for some coconuts ’cause I wanted to try making “Helado de Pipa”. It’s basically a coconut ice cream, sounds refreshing, right? I cracked open a coconut, took out the flesh and water, and mixed them with milk and sugar.

Making Mamallena

The first dessert I tried making was Mamallena. It’s made from stale bread, so it’s a great way to use up leftovers. I mixed the bread with sugar, eggs, and butter. Then, I baked it until it was golden brown. It turned out pretty good, a bit like bread pudding.

Experimenting with Helado de Pipa

Next up was Helado de Pipa. After getting the coconut ready, I processed the mixture into ice cream. It was a bit tricky, but the result was a delicious and refreshing treat. It’s kinda like a tropical vibe in a bowl.

Trying Other Desserts

I also read about Raspados and Chicheme, but I didn’t get to make them this time. They sound interesting, though. Raspados is like a shaved ice dessert, and Chicheme seems to be some kind of corn-based drink or pudding.

In the end, I managed to make a couple of Panama desserts. It was a fun experience, especially trying out new flavors and ingredients. I mean, in Panama, they mostly eat rice, beans, and meat. Vegetables are not that common unless you’re at a fancy restaurant, from what I know. But these desserts, they’re something else. Whether you’re a foodie or just someone with a sweet tooth, these are worth a try. I’d recommend trying them at a local restaurant if you’re in Panama, or just try making them yourself like I did!

I might try making more of these in the future, maybe even at a dinner party. They’re perfect for sharing. That’s it for my Panama dessert adventure. It’s been a blast sharing this with you all!
