Walt Disney World Broken Drinking Fountains: Why are they always out of order, and how to deal with it?

So, I went to Walt Disney World the other day. Man, it was hot as heck out there! I was walking around, sweating bullets, and I really needed to cool down. I figured I’d grab a drink from one of the water fountains around the park. I mean, they have to have them, right? It’s Disney!

I started looking around, and yeah, there were fountains, but honestly, they weren’t easy to spot. It’s like they were playing hide and seek with me. And when I finally found one, let me tell you, it was a bit of a letdown.

The first one I tried, the water pressure was so low. It was barely a trickle! I had to practically put my whole mouth on the spout to get a decent sip. Not exactly the most hygienic thing, you know? And the water, oh boy, it was lukewarm at best. It didn’t do much to quench my thirst or cool me down.

I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s just this one.” So, I moved on to another fountain. Same story! Low pressure, warm water. It was like a running joke. I asked a few cast members about it, hoping they’d point me to a magical fountain with ice-cold, gushing water. But nope, they just directed me to more of the same disappointing fountains.

I started to get a bit frustrated. I mean, it’s Florida, it’s hot, and people need water. It seemed like a no-brainer to have decent, working water fountains. I heard from some other guests that there are supposed to be bottle refilling stations around, but they were even harder to find than the fountains. I only spotted a couple in Epcot, and that was after searching for a while.

I ended up just buying bottled water most of the time, which was super expensive, obviously. They also have some free water at certain places. But the taste was, uh, interesting. Apparently, there’s something called sulfates in the water that gives it a weird flavor. They say it’s safe, but it definitely doesn’t taste great.

  • Low water pressure in many fountains.
  • Lukewarm water instead of cold.
  • Refilling stations hard to find.
  • Water has a distinct, not-so-pleasant taste due to sulfates.

By the end of the day, I was pretty dehydrated and a bit annoyed. I mean, this is Disney, they think of everything, right? But the water fountain situation was a major fail. It’s a basic necessity, especially in that heat. Hope they fix it, the broken drinking fountains were really unacceptable.
