Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another kitchen adventure. Today, I tried my hand at making bud cookies. I’ve seen these little guys all over the internet and figured, why not give them a shot? So I gathered all my ingredients and got to work.
Mixing It Up
First, I threw all the ingredients into a big bowl. I’m talking butter, sugar, eggs, the whole nine yards. The only thing I left out were the Hershey Kisses ’cause those little chocolates come in later. I grabbed my electric mixer and beat everything together on low speed. It took a few minutes, but I kept going until it was all nice and blended. No lumps, no bumps, just a smooth, creamy batter.
Rolling in Sugar
Next, I started making the dough into little balls. About an inch big, give or take. These balls then got a nice sugar bath. I rolled each one in granulated sugar until they were all covered and sparkly. It was kind of therapeutic, honestly. Just rolling and coating, rolling and coating.
Baking Time
- I prepped a couple of baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper. Lifesaver, that stuff. No sticking, no mess.
- Then I scooped out rounded tablespoons of the dough. I swirled each scoop a bit to flatten them out, aiming for about 2-inch discs.
- They went into the oven, and I kept a close eye on them. Baking times can be tricky, you know?
After they came out of the oven, golden and smelling amazing, I pressed a Hershey Kiss into the center of each cookie while they were still warm. This created that classic bud look. Let me tell you, the hardest part was waiting for them to cool down enough to eat! But once they did, oh boy, were they good. Soft, sweet, with just the right amount of chocolate. Definitely a win in my book.
So there you have it, my bud cookie journey. It was fun, a bit messy, but totally worth it. If you’re looking for a new cookie recipe to try, give these a go. You might just surprise yourself!
