Alright, so I was browsing through the internet the other day, and I stumbled upon this trend of using lavender powder for drinks. I’ve always liked the smell of lavender in candles and stuff, but drinking it? That was new to me. My curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to give it a shot.
First things first, I had to get my hands on some lavender powder. Turns out, it’s not that hard to find. I just went to the local grocery and looked in the spices section and picked up a small jar. Then I grabbed some of the necessary items from the grocery store for the different drinks.
Making Lavender Tea
- I started simple, with a basic lavender tea. I boiled some water in a small pot on the stove.
- Once it was boiling, I took a teaspoon of the lavender powder and added it to a cup. I poured the hot water into a cup with the powder and let it steep for about five minutes, giving it a good stir now and then.
- After steeping, I strained the tea to get rid of any big pieces. The color was a light, pale purple, kind of pretty if you ask me. I took a sip, and it was actually pretty good! It had a light, floral taste, not too overpowering. I added a little honey to sweeten it up, and it was perfect. It did have a calming effect, just like they say. I felt pretty relaxed after finishing the cup.
Lavender Lemonade
Feeling a bit more adventurous, I decided to try making lavender lemonade. I started by making the simple syrup.
- Boiled some water and sugar in a pan until the sugar dissolved. I added a spoonful of the lavender powder and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- While that was cooling down, I made some fresh lemonade. I juiced a few lemons, added water and some sugar and mixed it all up.
- After it was cooled, I used a strainer to remove any residual lavender powder particles and poured the syrup into the lemonade pitcher. It’s a nice, refreshing drink. You can really taste the lavender, but it mixes well with the lemon.
Lavender Latte
I saved the best for last, the lavender latte. This one I was really excited about because I love Starbucks, and this is similar to their drinks.
- I started with the same lavender syrup as before, boiling water, sugar, and lavender powder.
- While that cooled, I brewed some strong coffee using my usual method and then frothed some milk using a milk frother.
- I poured the coffee into a mug, added a bit of the lavender syrup, and then topped it off with the frothed milk.
- I even sprinkled a tiny bit of lavender powder on top for that extra touch. Man, this was good! It tasted just like something you’d get at a fancy coffee shop. The lavender added a nice, subtle flavor that went really well with the coffee and milk.
Honestly, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed these lavender drinks. It’s definitely something different, and I can see why people are into it. It’s not just the taste, but also the whole experience. It feels kind of fancy, making these drinks at home. Plus, there’s that whole relaxation vibe that comes with lavender. I’ll definitely be making these again, especially the latte. It’s a nice little treat to enjoy any time of the year.
