Okay, so my best friend is getting hitched, and I’m the maid of honor! We’ve been busy with all the wedding stuff, and now it’s time to think about the rehearsal dinner. I want to look nice, but not, like, steal the show or anything. I mean it is a bridesmaid rehearsal dinner.
First, I checked the invitation to see if there was any dress code mentioned. Nothing specific, phew! But it did say the dinner would be at a pretty swanky Italian restaurant downtown. So, definitely not jeans and a t-shirt territory.
Brainstorming time! I thought about what I already had in my closet. There’s that cute floral sundress I got last summer, but maybe a bit too casual? Then I remembered my navy blue wrap dress. It’s classy and comfortable, but would it be too boring?
I decided to browse online a bit, just to get some inspiration. You know how it is, scrolling through endless pictures of dresses. I saw a lot of people suggesting pastel colors or jewel tones for rehearsal dinners. That made sense, it’s a celebration, but not the main event, right?
Color Choices
- Pastel colors: They always look so soft and pretty, definitely a good option.
- Jewel tones: Emerald green or sapphire blue could be nice, especially for an evening event.
- Floral prints: As long as it’s not too loud, a floral print could be fun and festive.
After a couple of hours of browsing and debating, I narrowed it down to a few choices. One was a dusty rose midi dress with ruffles – super feminine and romantic. Another was a sleek emerald green sheath dress, very elegant. I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of color my friend, the bride-to-be, would choose for her bridesmaid. If she choose a light color, maybe I should avoid it. Finally, I ordered both online, figuring I could try them on and see which one felt more “me”.
When the dresses arrived, I immediately tried them on. The dusty rose one was lovely, but maybe a bit too…bridal? But the green one was the perfect one. It fit perfectly, and the color looked great on me. Plus, I felt confident and comfortable in it, which is the most important thing, yeah?
So, the green dress it is! Now I just need to find some shoes and accessories to complete the look. But the main part is done, and I’m feeling pretty good about my rehearsal dinner outfit. Can’t wait to celebrate with my bestie!
